He was also active as the eastern regional counsel and the vice president of marketing for Gatx Capital Corporation, an associate attorney for two different law firms in New York City between 1969 and 1978 before serving as the acting general counsel at De Lage Landen Financial Services between 1999 and 2000. Widely published, Mr. Contino has authored approximately a dozen leasing and financing books, including "The Complete Handbook of Equipment Leasing," "Equipment Leasing and Financing: A Product Sales and Business Profit Strategy" and "The Franchising Handbook."
Boasting extensive legal, business, marketing, tax, transaction structuring, financial and management expertise, Mr. Contino remains engaged as an advisor on all types of start-up and on-going capital equipment leasing business activities. He has also conducted numerous seminars through the U.S. on equipment leasing and business for professional organizations and private corporations. The president of U.S. Lease Advisors in Rye Brook in 2019, he has provided his professional expertise as the chairman and the founder of ELM Corporation since 1986, the managing director for First Lease Advisors since 2004 and the managing director for Fairfield Capital Group since 2014. To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Contino has been aligned with the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Contino initially pursued an education at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering in 1962. Deciding to work in a more people-oriented atmosphere, he returned to academua and acquired a law degree at the University of Maryland in 1965 and a Master of Laws in corporate law at New York University in 1972. He has been admitted to practice law in Maryland, the District of Columbia and New York. After completing his law degree in 1965, he completed service as a captain in the U.S. Air Force between 1968 and 1971.
