INDIANAPOLIS, IN, February 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Barbara D. Haehner with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Haehner celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than 35 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Haehner has excelled as the medical director of the Heart and Soul Free Clinic since 2015. In addition to this appointment, she worked as a staff nephrologist at the Methodist Hospital from 1999 to 2015. Previously, she served at Indiana University in a number of capacities between 1989 and 1999, including as an assistant professor of medicine in the pharmacy division, a medical doctor in the department of medicine, a clinical pharmacology fellow, a nephrology fellow and a resident in internal medicine. Dr. Haehner began her career as a part-time pharmacist at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis from 1985 to 1989.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Haehner pursued an education at Purdue University, earning a Registered Pharmacist certification in 1985. She concluded her studies at Indiana University in 1989, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Haehner became certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Haehner remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has maintained her involvement with the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. Moreover, Dr. Haehner has found success as a member of the Indiana State Medical Society.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Haehner has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. Notably, she was presented with a research grant from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association from 1996 to 1999 and a VA fellowship grant from 1993 to 1995. Likewise, Dr. Haehner was selected for inclusion in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
Drawn to the field during her youth, having been inherently interested in mathematics and science, Dr. Haehner became focused on medical science as opposed to chemistry as she wanted a career in biological sciences and, later, nephrology due to the greater need for medical care. Harboring a desire to help others, she was additionally inspired by her mentors, Charles Carter Sr. and Wendy Kindig. Further driven by her faith in God, who she believed blessed her to get an education and pay her goodwill forward to those in need, Dr. Haehner cites her retirement as a nephrologist as the highlight of her career, and hopes to cement her legacy as someone who put her all and touched the lives of her patients in the years to come. Dr. Haehner's current position as the medical director of the Heart and Soul free clinic is where she works to deliver healthcare to uninsured individuals. The Heart and Soul Clinic is a faith-based non profit 501(c)3 which is staffed completely by volunteer medical professionals and funded by grants and donations.
