Mr. Tillman is renowned as an attorney with more than 30 years of excellence specializing in mediation, arbitration, workers' compensation, and personal injury litigation. He initially pursued an education at Emory University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. Though he had hoped to begin a career in business development, he felt that he had the necessary skills that would make a career in law a natural fit. Mr. Tillman subsequently graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1979, and was admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Georgia that same year.
Mr. Tillman flourished for more than a decade as an insurance defense litigator with Bovis, Kyle, Burch & Medlin from 1981 to 1988. He then founded Buchanan & Tillman, where he practiced from 1988 to 1991. In 1991, he founded Tillman & Associates, which has now been a premier firm for nearly 30 years. Mr. Tillman is certified as a mediator and arbitrator by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.

Moreover, Mr. Tillman is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, where he is active and has served as the chair, and formerly the vice-chair of the Workers' Compensation section. He was awarded the 2019 Howard Osofsky Award for his work with Kids' Chance of Georgia, a charter that provides college scholarships to kids whose parents have been catastrophically injured or killed in a work-related accident. He was inducted as a Fellow into the College of Workers' Compensation Lawyers in 2018 and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by America's Top 100 Attorneys. He was inducted into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals in 2017 and was named a Diplomate Member in 2019.
