Mike Galli accepted the CNOA Region One Prosecutor of the Year Award in 2016.
SAN JOSE, CA, February 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mike Galli has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
During the 1970s, Mr. Galli's father was tragically shot in the head in a robbery. Fortunately, he survived the attack but the perpetrator was only charged with a robbery and not attempted murder. The perpetrator pled guilty to that charge and only served two years in prison, which did not sit well with Mr. Galli and inspired him to pursue a career as a prosecutor.
Since 1984, Mr. Galli has excelled as a deputy district attorney for the Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney, where he currently reviews police reports from eight different police agencies, files felony and misdemeanor criminal charges, and reviews all non-narcotic misdemeanor citations to determine eligibility for a pre-filing diversion program, and handles legal questions regarding search and seizure issues from police officers and other deputy district attorneys throughout the State of California. Additionally, he serves as a unit member of the Criminal Complaint Unit at the District Attorney's Office and as an instructor at the Peace Officer's Standards and Training (POST) Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation. Over the years, Mr. Galli has also worked within numerous units as a unit member and supervisor. He has been assigned to the misdemeanor DUI unit, juvenile unit, felony narcotics, asset forfeiture, economic crimes, preliminary examinations and motions, writs and appeals. He has been the assistant supervisor of the narcotics unit twice, was the first supervisor of the narcotics asset forfeiture unit and supervised the welfare fraud and restitution services units before his current assignment.
In 1978, Mr. Galli earned an Associate of Arts degree in history from Foothill Community College with honors. Subsequently, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government Cum Laude from the University of San Francisco in 1980. He concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1983. Upon graduating law school, Mr. Galli was admitted to practice law through the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, as well as the State Bar of California.
In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Galli is especially proud of writing more than 2,200 search warrants and only lost one, which was due to the fact that an officer committed perjury. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he is aligned with the California District Attorneys Association (CDAA), the American Bar Association and the California Narcotics Officers Association (CNOA). Devoted to his community, Mr. Galli contributes as a technical advisor and an instructor for CDAA's Search Warrant Law Seminar. He also provides instructions to Santa Clara County law enforcement agencies on search and seizure law upon request by them.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Mr. Galli has authored such works as five editions of the "CDAA Search Warrant Law & Practice Manual," "Tracking Devices and the Fourth Amendment" and a chapter on search and seizure law in the CDAA High Technology Crimes Manual. For his outstanding work, he was presented with a Commendation Letter from the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) Burglary Prevention Unit, a Commendation Letter from the SJPD Narcotics Unit, the Santa Clara County Employee of the Month Award in 1990, the SJPD Excellence Award and the CDAA Author of the Year Award. More recently, he accepted the CNOA Region One Prosecutor of the Year Award in 2016. Looking toward the future, Mr. Galli aims to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
