LAS VEGAS, NV, March 03, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Judith Ball (Judy) has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Born in Colorado Springs in 1963 to George F.A. Holtorf and Naomi V. Holtorf, Mrs. Ball has excelled as a property management business manager for Hunt Pacific Management Corporation's San Moritz and Angel Point Apartments since 1998.
Mrs. Ball became involved in property management when her friend, Stacy Rich, who worked in the field as a marketing director, alerted her to an available leasing position. Mrs. Ball applied with no expectation or amount of knowledge about the field. She was hired by McKinley Properties, starting her career in property management. After three years, her friend, Dorri Werner, the manager at San Moritz, had an opening come available. Mrs. Ball was hired on at Fairfield Properties in 1996. In late 1997, Hunt Pacific Management Corporation purchased San Moritz, where she is proud to say she still works today.
The highlight of Mrs. Ball's career came early on at San Moritz. She was asked to travel and be part of an acquisition for a prospective property. She went to Indiana to assist in the due diligence. She was honored to be involved in that aspect of the business. The experience was extremely educational and exciting for her. As she explained, "One needs to be very detail-oriented in order to perform all the tasks involved in conducting a successful acquisition and being recognized for my skills in that area was an experience I will not forget."
She attributes much of her success to learning by experience, as well as being able to grow through instruction from her supervisors and peers. Another major contributor to her success within her career and personal life is the support that she receives from her husband, Jeffrey W. Ball, who has played a huge role in helping support and motivate her. The partnership they share is the essential framework of how she has been able to adapt and grow with the ups and downs of life, both inside and outside of work. Within the property management field, changes are inevitable and being able to learn, grow and adapt is extremely important to be successful. In addition, her certifications in fair housing, customer service, sexual harassment, and managing difficult people allow her to excel. She also maintains membership with the Nevada State Apartments Association (NVSAA). For her exemplary efforts, she was recognized as one of the Best of Las Vegas in 2018.
Mrs. Ball has learned that all the reports, marketing, maintenance, property inspections, fire codes, health department requirements, fair housing laws, and tenant/landlord laws are all the routine aspects of the career. Customer service is her real job. She has found that consistency is her best friend. As the manager of a large property, her position is to be the middleman between the residents and the owner. Balancing the requests in fairness and consistency to help both parties is how she is successful.
The most rewarding aspect of her career was when she was asked to travel to Washington State to train other managers on a new software system; that was one of her first experiences training her peers. She was very proud to have been asked, and even more proud of the success and compliments on the quality of the training she was able to provide. This experience made her realize how much she values being in a position to teach and share her knowledge with others.
When asked about the changes in her field over the years and how these changes will affect its future, she replied "Being in the industry for over 20 years, one of the most obvious changes has been the integration of technology. The day-to-day tasks and reports that once consumed copious amount of paper and space have transitioned to being done online and electronically saved and backed up. This change progressed the property management field, streamlining daily timely procedures. Another major change has been the modification and evolution of laws; the old days of mom-and-pop management teams are nearly obsolete."
Mrs. Ball's mentors were Stacy Rich, who sparked her passion for this career. She is extremely grateful to her. Kari Lindell is another mentor. She was the first manager in property management that Mrs. Ball worked under. Kari was very detailed-oriented. Although at the time Mrs. Ball thought she was being very picky and did not understand the importance of certain tasks, she credits her precision in auditing and attention to detail to teaching her the skills set that helped her become the successful manager that she is today. Dan Weber has also been a very strong mentor in her life and career. He was the president of Hunt Pacific Management Corporation until he retired in 2016. Dan was one of the most compassionate people she has ever met. That being said, he was always professional; he had high standards and held all the managers and staff accountable for their property and their actions. Most recently, she has been fortunate to work with Amy Sewell, her direct supervisor. Amy joined Hunt Pacific Management Corporation. four years ago as her regional manager. She quickly became someone Mrs. Ball qualifies as a mentor. Amy has helped her grow in the knowledge of the business and how to see things from different perspectives. She believes that from her guidance and knowledge, she has become a better manager over the past four years.
When asked what advice she would offer others aspiring to work in her industry, she remarked, "Property management is a very fulfilling career; you are helping people with one of the most important parts of their livelihood, finding a home. There are so many aspects of this career including the business, marketing, legal, ethical and customer service. This makes each day an adventure. Mrs. Ball is so grateful that she is doing something that makes her happy to come to work every day."
Mrs. Ball's greatest achievements are receiving promotions and acknowledgment of being a valued part of her corporation, traveling to Australia and Fiji, being married to her best friend for more than 36 years, and being a present, loving mother to Sheena D. Ball and Devin M. Ball and grandmother to Ariel L. Ball, Zachary M. Ball and Alexis D. Ball, step grandmother to Makayla Carlin and Arabella Carlin. In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving, skydiving, kayaking and supporting her grandchildren in all their activities.
Throughout Mrs. Ball's career, staff members have come and gone. As the manager at San Moritz, she is proud to say that she has a great staff. She strongly believes in the saying, "You can only be as good as your team!"
In five years, Mrs. Ball's goal is to remain at San Moritz in Las Vegas, Nevada, continuing to grow this community and her professional and personal knowledge in all aspects of life. She wants to ensure she spends quality time with her loved ones and dedicates herself to being the best manager, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend she can be.
