Dr. Dahl has enjoyed a long and successful career for nearly five decades as a pathologist in Maine. Following the conclusion of his academic efforts, he maintained his own pathology practice in Bangor, Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates, as its president and co-founder from 1971 to 1995. He has since become the president and founder of PathQuest Health Consultant in Bangor. Dr. Dahl formerly served as the president of Pathology Services International, as the president and founder of Physician's Support Service Inc., UniShip and The Freedom Group, and as the director of the school of medical technology at the University of Maine.
In 2012, Dr. Dahl authored his first book, titled "Optimize Your Life." It has been translated into five different languages, including Japanese, Spanish and Arabic. That same year, he also released "What Better Place to Die," based on his near-death experience on Mount Washington in New Hampshire. Dr. Dahl has notably climbed numerous mountains, including Mount Everest, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Elbrus.
An alumnus of Wheaton College in Illinois, Dr. Dahl received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1960. He subsequently attended Cornell University where he acquired a Doctor of Medicine in 1964. Additional educational pursuits to his credit have included an internship at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, Vermont, between 1964 and 1965, a residency in pathology at the University of Vermont in Hospitals in Burlington between 1965 and 1969 and a two-year postdoctoral training program with the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS), which is designed for health professionals interested in practice of applied epidemiology sponsored by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Dahl is certified through the College of American Pathologists.
Aligned with several medical organizations, Dr. Dahl was notably elected a fellow of the College American Pathologists. He is also a member and past president of the American Pathology Foundation and a member of the Wilderness Medical Society, the International Society of Mountain Medicine and the Maine Medical Society. The recipient of a DuPost Award in 1960, Dr. Dahl soon after received an Isaac Gulbrandsen Award from the University of Oslo in 1962 and has received the Benjamin Y. Kean Award from the EIS every year between 1969 and 2001. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been featured in the 21st and 22nd editions of Who's Who in the East and the 28th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
