Cass Weil considers his work on the Minnesota State Bar Association's bankruptcy legal handbook to be the highlight of his career.

Mr. Weil is renowned as a retired lawyer with more than 25 years of specialty in bankruptcy planning to his credit. He initially pursued an education at Stony Brook University, a part of the State University of New York system, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1968. Subsequently, Mr. Weil began his career working in a bail reform program at his local county jail.
In that position and subsequently as a probation officer, Mr. Weil realized that his skills were well-suited to interacting with judges and attorneys. As a result, he strongly believed that he could make a difference in the lives of clients as a part of the justice system. While continuing to work as a probation officer, Mr. Weil enrolled at the William Mitchell College of Law at night, eventually graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, in 1980.
From 1980 to 1981, Mr. Weil served as an associate of JR Kotts & Associates of Minneapolis. Active as an associate of Wagner, Rutchick, & Trojack from 1981 to 1983, he further flourished as a partner of Zohlmann & Weil throughout 1983. He later excelled as a partner of Peterson, Franke, & Riach, P.A. from 1983 to 1991 and O'Connor & Hannan from 1991 to 1994. Mr. Weil found success as a partner at the firm of Moss & Barnett, P.A., from 1994 until his retirement in 2015.
Certified as a consumer and business bankruptcy law specialist, Mr. Weil has been admitted to practice law by the Minnesota State Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. The editor of five annual editions of the Minnesota Legal Forms for Bankruptcy, he considers his work on the Minnesota State Bar Association's bankruptcy legal handbook to be the highlight of his career. Likewise, Mr. Weil is a member of the American Bar Association and the Minnesota Bar Association, where he has held a variety of leadership roles.
Among other honors, Mr. Weil has been recognized for his excellence with five American Research Corporation Leading American Attorney Awards. Moreover, he was honored as a Lawyers Magazine Super Lawyer annually from 2003 to 2012. In his retirement, Mr. Weil has continued to advocate for corrections reform as a member of the Jewish Community Action group.
