Having accrued over 30 years as a faculty member at Hendrix College, Dr. Spatz retired from his position as a professor of psychology in 2003. Throughout his tenure, he began as an associate professor between 1973 and 1985, after which he became a full professor. Dr. Spatz had previously held teaching appointments at the University of Arkansas in Monticello and The University of the South for a period of five years.

Utilizing his expertise, Dr. Spatz has authored several books, including "Exploring Statistics: Tales of Distributions." First published in 1976, and now in its 12th edition, it was written to help students develop an intuitive understanding of statistical reasoning. He also co-authored the 2008 book "Research Methods in Psychology: Ideas, Techniques and Reports." Dr. Spatz has contributed several chapters to books by other authors and was a section editor for the Wiley Publication, "Encyclopedia Statistics in Behavioral Science," as well.

Dr. Spatz graduated with a Bachelor of Arts at Hendrix College in 1962. He subsequently received a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy at Tulane University in 1964 and 1966, respectively. During the summer of 1968, Dr. Spatz completed a National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan, followed by a National Institute of Mental Health postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California Berkeley between 1969 and 1971.

Eager to remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Spatz has maintained his membership with several organizations pertinent to his expertise. To wit, he is affiliated with the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Spatz has been cited in numerous editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
