Mr. Curtis is a criminal defense attorney specializing in cases relating to homicide. He holds a Bachelor of Science in economics from Oklahoma State University, and attended the Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming. In further pursuing a formal education, Mr. Curtis earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2011 at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Mr. Curtis began his career as an attorney for the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office, and was deeply involved in county offender diversion programs. He briefly practiced with the Buxton Law Group before starting Clay Curtis Law PLLC, where he focused his practice on criminal defense. Mr. Curtis is one of the founders of the Overman Legal Group, for which he continues his focus on criminal defense, including capital punishment defense and mitigation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Curtis has resolved more than 2,500 criminal cases, including 25 cases tried before a jury. He was awarded the 2019 OCDLA Clarence Darrow Award for outstanding trial advocacy. He attributes his success to integrity and authenticity, and embraces the qualities that set him apart from other attorneys. Within five years, Mr. Curtis hopes to be able to devote more time to his personal life and relationships, and to transition to a management role while taking a selective case load.
