Consumers' Research Council of America honored Dr. Samer Narouze among America's Top Pain Medicine Physicians in 2008 and 2015.

Backed by more than 20 years of practiced experience in medicine, Dr. Narouze serves as the president and the founder of the American Interventional Headache Society, the president-elect of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Professor of Surgery at Northeast Ohio Medical School, clinical professor of neurological surgery for the Ohio State University, clinical professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. and the chairman of the Center for Pain Medicine at Western Reserve Hospital where he sits on the medical executive committee. Previously, Dr. Narouze taught anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University where he was the program director for the pain medicine fellowship.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Narouze gained valuable expertise in program director and staff positions with the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Aultman Health Foundation. Throughout his career, he has also chaired numerous committees at the Cleveland Clinic, including pain medicine education, acute pain service task force, anesthesiology education and pain management. In a career filled with highlights, he is especially proud of obtaining patents for "ultrasound-guided delivery of a therapy guided device to target nerve." Dr. Narouze has also been privileged enough to conduct research into other ultrasound-guided chronic pain blocks and pioneer the use of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for headache and pain.
In pursuit of his medical dreams, Dr. Narouze pursued an education at Ain Shams University, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1989 and a Master of Science in anesthesia, pain and intensive care in 1993. Subsequently, he completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain medicine through the Cleveland Clinic. Never one to rest on his laurels, Dr. Narouze later received Doctor of Philosophy in cervicogenic headaches from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, as well as multiple American board certifications in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, Interventional Pain Management, and Headache Medicine.
Dr. Narouze retains his professional alignment with a plethora of organizations, including the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Board of Headache Medicine, the World Institute of Pain, the International Neuromodulation Society and the International Association of MSK Pain. In previous years, he was affiliated with other associations such as the Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the International Anesthesia Research Society. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he edits a number of books on pain medicine, headache medicine, and Cannabinoids. He is also the editor-in-chief for the Annals of Headache Medicine, and serves as an editor for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Journal and Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine. He also reviews for a dozen other national and international pain and headache journals. He published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
Consumers' Research Council of America honored him among America's Top Pain Medicine Physicians in 2008 and 2015. Due to his tireless efforts, he was additionally presented with the Master Educator Award from the Cleveland Clinic Anesthesiology Institute and a Distinguished Services Award from the European Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Therapy.
