In his position, he is tasked with overseeing corporate building locations, liaising with employees, and acting as a hands-on leader for many jobs. Formerly, Mr. Sanders worked for Spokane-based ABM as the supervisor of building maintenance before going into business for himself.
Outside of his career in repair and maintenance, Mr. Sanders is the longtime owner of Expanded Horizons in Spokane since 1994. He is also the former owner and orchardist of Apple Kingdom in Green Bluff, Washington — posts he held for 14 years, between 1967 and 1981. Further, Mr. Sanders is a published author, having released "Expanded Horizons Project Reality" in 1996.
Mr. Sanders attended an advanced trade school in Chicago, through which he obtained a mechanics diploma in 1976. He is also a former military serviceman, having served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967. Mr. Sanders is a longtime member of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin, that advocates for non-theists.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Sanders raised two daughters and has four grandchildren. In his free time, Mr. Sanders studies quantum mechanics, cosmology, and cosmogony. He also enjoys watching basketball and sculpting.
