In addition to advising clients, agencies and city employees, he handles litigation involving the city, Mr. McAndrews serves as counsel to Alexandria's public safety and mental health agencies.
Previously, Mr. McAndrews gained valuable litigation experience as an attorney for Godard, West & Adelman between 1983 and 1992. He initially earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service in American history and diplomacy from Georgetown University in 1979. Four years later, Mr. McAndrews concluded his academic efforts at his alma mater's law school, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Dedicated to his community, Mr. McAndrews contributes to those in need through the tithing allocation committee of Saint Mark's Catholic Church. Due to his outstanding accomplishments, he was presented with the A. Robert Cherin Award from the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia in 2018.
