Her first network appearance on NBC in New York showcased her voice talents at age 12 which launched her professional voice career which led to commercials and keynote conference presentations which continues today. She has garnered a laudable reputation as the president and owner of Lana Brown Communications Consulting, a communications consulting firm, since 2005. Specializing in leadership development, coaching and training clients from the corporate, nonprofit and business sectors. Ms. Brown has also taught as an adjunct professor of human organization and development for Vanderbilt University's internship program in Chicago since 2005 while writing a weekly editorial column for the Daily Journal, her local newspaper.
Beginning her career in education, Ms. Brown taught courses in communications and broadcast journalism at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School District 307 for more than 30 years. During her tenure, she was the district's director of public relations from 1984 to 2004 while serving as the teacher-producer of the CNN Student Bureau on 9/11. Ms. Brown was education director and consultant of the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, Ill. for several years. She served as the program liaison and coordinator of the urban education graduate program for Michigan State University College of Education in Chicago Public Schools from 2006 to 2017.

An award-winning author of the book "The Anthology" published by the Illinois Woman's Press Association (IWPA) in 2008, she also wrote and edited The Process, a community magazine that was acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education and the Library of Congress.
Ms. Brown received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1970. She holds a Master of Arts degree in education from Northwestern University and National College of Education and as an avid community advocate, she played a contributing role in Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development Civic Education Project on its advisory board. Ms. Brown was invited to serve on the prestigious CBS Westinghouse Blue Ribbon Panel of Educators, Illinois Arts Council Community Grant Panel and as a founding member on the boards of the Exploration Station A Children's Museum, Bradley Bourbonnais Academic Foundation, District 307 Senior Cititzen's Program and Young People's Theatre. She has narrated many concerts with symphony orchestras and has served on the boards of the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra, Catholic Charities, Training Center for the Disabled, YMCA, Museum of Broadcast Communications-Chicago.
In 2009, Ms. Brown was honored as Illinois Communicator of Achievement from the Illinois Woman's Press Assn. where she formerly served as the association's first vice president and program chair. She was recognized nationally for her entire body of work in communications at the National Federation of Press Women. She was also the recipient of the Zonta Leadership Award, the Illinois Parent Teacher Association Lifetime Achievement Award and the coveted Crystal Apple Award for outstanding educators from Michigan State University College of Education. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Brown has been included in the 21st through 24th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
