Leading a long and distinguished career in finance for more than 60 years, Mr. Brustein has been aligned with Modell's Sporting Goods, America's oldest, family-owned and operated retailer of sporting goods, since 1987. Prior to his current role, he worked from 1987 until 1997 as the retail giant's Executive Vice President. Mr. Brustein formerly held the role of the Vice President and Treasurer of Unishops in Jersey City for 16 years. Additionally, he held various roles with K-Mart, Barney's and E&L Distributors Inc. and with two local CPA firms in New York City.
An alumnus of the University of Buffalo, Mr. Brustein received a Bachelor of Science in 1958. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York. Aligned with several industry related organizations, Mr. Brustein is active as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of CPAs. He was also a member and Chairman of Finance for the International Mass Retail Association, as well as a Board Member of the Finance Committee of the National Retail Federation.
Mr. Brustein was a former editorial advisory board member for Retail Tech Magazine. He also served his local community as a Trustee and the Executive Vice President of the Reform Temple of East Brunswick for a decade between 1977 and 1987 and chaired the Finance Commitee at his local senior citizen residence. Outside of his professional circles, Mr. Brustein enjoys such diversions as creating artwork, and has received several awards for his sculptures from the American Artist Professional League. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been included in over 45 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business and Who's Who in the East.
