FRANKLIN, KY, March 30, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. James Henry Snider with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Snider celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For more than four decades, Dr. Snider excelled as a public school teacher and school counselor, as well as part-time photographer and historian. Currently in retirement, he gained a plethora of knowledge through roles with the Simpson, Warren, and Logan County and Bowling Green Independent Boards of Education in KY, the Metro Nashville Davidson County and Robertson County Boards (Springfield High School) in TN, Western Kentucky University, and the Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. Additionally, he lent his expertise as an intern for U.S. Senator Marlow W. Cook in Washington, DC, in 1973. Among the notable highlights of his career, he is most humbled by the students who have returned to tell him how much they appreciated his teachings. Whenever he wasn't working, he gave back to his community through the First Baptist Church, Little League Baseball, the American Cancer Society, the West Madison Baptist Church, and the Simpson County Historical Society, through which he directed an expansion into a 20,000 square foot History Center, containing a museum exhibit hall, meeting room, gallery, and large research library/media center. He has also served on the KY Community Crisis Response Board and the KY Higher Education Assistance Commission, appointed by the Governor, and has the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel. Dr, Snider's mother, Pearl S Snider, taught public school, being KY's Star Teacher at one point, and served her community and church in multiple ways, and his father, Brundage, sold farm seed and implements and provided many people with free vegetables from his garden.
An expert in his field, Dr. Snider holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from Western Kentucky University, as well as a Doctor of Education from the prestigious Vanderbilt University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he maintained affiliation with the Professional Educators of Tennessee, the National Education Association, the World Federation of National Mathematics Competitions, the Metro Nashville Education Association and the Kentucky, National, and World Associations for Gifted Education, in addition to a plethora of other education organizations. He has presented at state, national, and world educational conferences. Throughout his career, he has contributed his knowledge to creative works, such as "Designing a Program for Gifted Mathematics Students in Junior High/Middle Schools" and "Franklin and Simpson County: A Picture of Progress: 1819-1975."
As a testament to his outstanding accomplishments, Dr. Snider has been honored with the American Heroes in Education National Award from Readers Digest, the Golden Apple Award, a Tandy-Radio Shack Educator Award, AT &T Teachers and Technology Governor's Fellow, and a Disney Channel Teacher Award. Professional publications such as Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and Who's Who in American Education have also recognized him for his professional excellence. In the coming years, Dr. Snider intends to continue enjoying his retirement, or his retreading as he called it, especially with his volunteering with the addition of the Simpson County History Center, a showplace for his community. He has also been active in his church and in politics, serving as a County Party Chairman, and as a Commissioner on his County Board of Elections for over 40 years. He also helped two young men enter college, and mentored them for several years, Jason Herring and Robert Creek.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. James Henry Snider has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
