He also chairs the firm's transportation practice group and is a member of the labor and employment, litigation and alternative dispute resolution groups. Bringing with him a plethora of expertise, Mr. Botta is an expert in the transportation industry and has counseled local, regional, national and international clients in logistics, supply chain and transportation operations.
Regarding labor and employment law, Mr. Botta has handled matters such as employment discrimination, sexual harassment, unfair labor practice, union election campaigns and collective bargaining in both federal and state courts. He is also an experienced trial attorney who has successfully litigated civil disputes in both state and federal court systems in various complex commercial litigation matters and has represented national companies before the Third and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeal. Furthermore, Mr. Botta is a talented mediator with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Botta has distinguished himself as a former vice president and general counsel for Samuels and Son Seafood Company, Inc., the largest seafood wholesaler in the northeast region. He was also a partner at several other firms and an attorney for Caliber Systems Inc. in Akron, Ohio, and Roadway Package Systems, Inc. in Pittsburgh. An additional role to his credit includes being a certified as a Major League Baseball player agent, where he represented players for 13 years. Furthermore, between 2003 and 2008, Mr. Botta began serving his community as a trustee at his alma mater, Washington and Jefferson College.
An alumnus of Washington and Jefferson College, Mr. Botta acquired a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1981. He subsequently attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence at Temple University in 1985. Following these achievements, Mr. Botta has been admitted to practice by the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association, the U.S. District Court of the Western, Eastern and Central Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court of the Third, Fifth and Tenth Circuits of the U.S. District Courts of Colorado and Michigan, the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Among his professional memberships, Mr. Botta most notably served as the management chair of labor employment for the alternative dispute resolution section of the American Bar Association between 2010 and 2013. Further, he found success as the president of the Transportation Lawyers Association between 2017 and 2018. Mr. Botta currently serves on the board of directors of the Canadian Transportation Lawyers' Association and is a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, the Pennsylvania and Ohio Bar Associations and the Allegheny and Washington County Bar Associations where he has also served in a variety of capacities.
In 2008, Mr. Botta received a Distinguished Service Award from the Transportation Lawyers Association. An AV-Rated attorney through Martindale Hubbell, he received the Distinguished Service Award, and he is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Botta enjoys such avocations as playing golf and running.
