Mr. Koproski, of Al Koproski Realty, is a successful real estate company executive and commercial and industrial broker who founded his business in his hometown of Stamford as the owner and chief executive officer in 1973. He previously contributed to the industry with S. H. Silberman, Inc. in Stamford as a commercial and industrial broker between 1960 and 1973.
A civic leader for many years, Mr. Koproski's volunteer efforts have centered primarily on supporting his local community and church activities. He was notably responsible for founding the American Center for Polish Culture, Inc., in Washington, which he maintained for 20 years, beginning in 1990. Mr. Koproski also held various roles with Holy Name of Jesus Church, the American Center of Polish Culture and the Polish American Culture Society, among other local organizations.
A sports enthusiast, Mr. Koproski became very involved in baseball as well. He founded and chaired the Little League of Dzialdowo in his ancestors' native country of Poland. In addition to building a little league baseball field for the children of the area, Mr. Koproski was also able to acquire annual donations from area sports fans in Connecticut to purchase equipment for coaches and players. The field was later dedicated in his honor, appropriately named the Al Koproski Little League Baseball Stadium.
Mr. Koproski served his country in the U.S. Army between 1955 and 1957. Presently, he has maintained activity as a trustee of the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City since 2010. Moreover, Mr. Koproski has been a member of the South End Revitalization Committee in Stamford as of 1996, the Stanford Exchange Club, and is past president of the Holy Name Athletic Club.
Prior to acquiring a Bachelor of Science in marketing and finance at Tri State University in 1959, Mr. Koproski studied at the University of Connecticut for two years, between 1952 and 1954. He is a licensed real estate broker in New York and Connecticut. Among his professional memberships, Mr. Koproski is the past president of the Polish American Cultural Society. He also serves on the board of directors of the Stamford Old Timers Athletic Association, is a member of the Polish American Business and Professional Club and an honorary member of the Stamford Historical Society.
Mr. Koproski has been the recipient of multiple awards and recognitions for his professional career and civic leadership. More recently, he received a Medal from the President of Poland in 2012 and an Honorary Award from the Polish Government in 2012. He received an Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1998 as one of the few Polish Americans to ever receive the honor.
