Adeline Wijnen is renowned as a translator and teacher fluent in Italian and French.

Ms. Wijnen is renowned as a translator and teacher fluent in Italian and French. She studied abroad at the University of Florence in 1957 and the University of Milano and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Hunter College in 1961.

Commencing course work at Hunter College in 1968 Ms. Wijnen concluded her education, earning a Master of Science in Education at the City University of New York in 1996.

From 1954 to 1960, Ms. Wijnen was an actuarial assistant at Morse & Seal in New York City. She later served as secretary to the assistant to the president of Hunter College 1963-1964 and as market research assistant for the Italian Economic Corporation of BNL from 1964 to 1966. In the 1950s she was president of ASPI (Associazione Studenti-Professionisti Italo-Americani) at Columbia University and a freelance interpreter and translator throughout New York and New Jersey since 1963. Ms. Wijnen briefly held a variety of administrative roles, including as a French and English language administrative assistant for Education International in Algiers, Algeria, from 1983-1984. She did extensive travel abroad where she served one year in Holland, one year in Germany, one year in Algeria, and one and half years in Italy.

Additionally, Ms. Wijnen was an adjunct professor of Italian and French at St. Peter's University from 1988-1993, and taught sixth grade at IS 164 and IS90 in NYC until her retirement in 2003. Furthermore, Ms. Wijnen is a member and sponsor of Teaneck International Film Festival, Community Scholarship of Teaneck and Friends of the Teaneck Public Library.

Ms. Wijnen is an Honorary Citizen of San Mango d'Aquino, the southern Italian city of her father's birth, having contributed to the background narrative of his poetry and life in America.
