HOLLYWOOD, FL, April 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Kenneth L. Pelton with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Pelton celebrates many years' experience in his professional career and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Pelton is now retired from a successful career spanning 35 years specializing in life, disability and group insurance services. After being discharged from a four-year hitch in the US Navy, he began his career as an insurance agent in North Miami, Florida with a small company known as Interstate life domiciled in Tennessee. Because of his outstanding sales record, he was eventually recruited by the Prudential Insurance Co. of America, where he worked for 16 years. His positions included insurance agent, sales manager, agency manager in charge of a 50-agent sales team and manager of field training for the southeastern United States. After accumulating many years of experience in his field, Mr. Pelton formed his own firm, in Pembroke Pines, FL, as an independent broker specializing in life, disability and group insurance. He remained in this position working with his wife until his well-deserved retirement in 1998.
Mr. Pelton and his lovely wife, Kathleen, have been dedicated animal rights activists with a vegan lifestyle since 1985. After retirement, he devoted much of his post-retirement to supporting the endeavors of his late wife of more than 50 years in her efforts to end the cruel business of greyhound racing in Florida's 12 tracks, a heart-felt cause she worked on for 15 years until her death in 2017. The following year Florida law was changed to prohibit any further greyhound racing.
As well as animal rights work, within his community, Mr. Pelton has been involved in various volunteer projects. He taught several life-skill classes weekly at a homeless shelter between 2006 and 2012 and served as a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America from 2009 to 2011. And, of course, he and his wife were always involved in some form of animal rights work from protesting the cruelty of circus animals to writing letters to state legislators.
Always an avid motorcyclist, over 18 years, Mr. Pelton completed five cross-country roundtrips from his home in South Florida. He used the journals he kept daily to author his first book, "Not sure where I'm going, but I'm making great time." The book, published in 2018 and available on Amazon, takes readers across America's mountains and highways from one state to another. The book includes accounts of humorous conversations, near-death experiences, navigating through unpredictable weather and other entertaining tales.
Mr. Pelton quit school when he turned 17 to join the Navy. Mainly a self-taught person, he, never-the-less, completed two rigorous college-level certification courses to better-serve his professional clients: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Mr. Pelton was also active in his own professional community as president for the Hollywood chapter of the National Association of Life Underwriters and Vice President of his Local Chartered Life Underwriter Association.
A believer in community work, he was active in his local Rotary Club for 16 years until he retired, serving every position including president. He was also president of the Western Commerce Association and a member and president of his local chapter of Toastmasters International. During his tenure as president of his Rotary club, he received a Membership Growth Award for doubling the size his club during the 1985 to 1986 club year.
Mr. Pelton additionally received an award for Creativity and Innovation while working as the manager of Prudential's Field Training Department and was celebrated in the 29th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
