Her responsibilities include overseeing over 20 stores across New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, acting as the face of Bento Sushi, training employees on the operations, hiring chefs, covering for vacancies as needed, providing inspiration to employees, managing inventory, and reporting on sales.
Ms. Saengwong's previous roles include owner of Jasmine Café in Auburn, ME from 2010 to 2019, culinary instructor at Camp Wekeela in Hartford, ME in 2019, and general manager of Thai JarEarn in Lewiston, ME from 2007 to 2010. She also served in the hospitality and food and beverage industries as a baker, barista, hostess, waitress, cashier and night auditor. Ms. Saengwong was notably the first place winner of the 2019 chili chowder competition in Lewiston, ME.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Ms. Saengwong received an associate's degree in hospitality and hotel management in 2006 from Middlesex Community College. Ms. Saengwong likewise attended Newbury College in Brookline, MA, in 2006 and 2007, where she pursued further studies in hospitality and hotel management. She also completed coursework in hospitality and hotel management and attended culinary school in 2008 and 2009 through Central Maine Community College in Auburn, ME.
Ms. Saengwong became involved in her profession through her parents who, upon immigration to the United States, worked in restaurants to provide a steady income. On the weekends, she would accompany her parents to work and paid keen attention to food terminology and what ingredients went into which specific dishes. Observing the pride her parents took in their jobs, Ms. Saengwong discovered her passion for food at an early age, and was inspired to forge a career in the culinary arts.
In accounting for her standout success, Ms. Saengwong credits her abiding dedication to hard work. Looking towards the future, she aspires to someday own a coffee shop or a small bakery on an island. As long as she is able to cook, Ms. Saengwong is confident that she will find happiness and success in her endeavors. She intends to take up hiking as a hobby.
