After a long and distinguished career in communications, Dr. Wojcik retired in 2014 as the Network Vice President at Alcatel-Lucent, a telecommunications equipment company in Dallas, following seven exemplary years in his role. His extensive expertise included several high-level roles, including as the Executive Director for BellSouth Telecommunications and TTI Telecommunications. Prior to that he held a Supervisory position at AT&T Bell Laboratories. He also was a Senior System Analyst in Sargent & Lundy Engineers and started his career as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Academic Computing Center with Saint Bonaventure University. In total, Dr. Wojcik accumulating more than 40 years of professional experience.
As an expert in the project management, systems engineering and real-time software development of telecommunications projects, Dr. Wojcik was notably responsible for developing BellSouth operational support systems for its Advanced Intelligent Network and DSL Broadband network, driving his organization to achieve CMM Level 2 certification. In addition he led the project management within Alcatel-Lucent for its integration of the AT&T U-verse offering. Dr. Wojcik contributed as a session speaker, chairman and keynote speaker at a variety of Advanced Intelligent Network conferences. In addition he provided his expertise as a developer and conductor of a workshop for Dekalb County Educators Day; a panelist for the Governor's Conference on Education; a science project leader for the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta; and a lead member for the Atlanta Software and Systems Process Improvement Network.
Dr. Wojcik has authored "Sudoku Sleuthing: Detective Approaches for Solving Challenging Puzzles" in 2016. A how-to guide for puzzle lovers, this book teaches readers strategies and methods to finish the most difficult Sudoku puzzles. Active in his community, he has played an instrumental role on the Advisory Board of Saint Benedict Preparatory School, serving as the Technology Committee Chairperson from 2016-19 and continuing to support its School Improvement Leadership Team. He has contributed to several Booth Alumni Non-Profit Consulting projects and has supported UChicago 5Essentials efforts including recent work with the Archdiocese of Chicago Academic Excellence subcommittee. He also has been Treasurer for his Home-Owners Board for six years. Among other roles, Dr. Wojcik was active on the science fair advisory board for the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta and the science fair judge for the Chicago Schools Board of Education.
Dr. Wojcik received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1967, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in 1972 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago in 1985. He has been a certified Project Management Professional since 2002. Recognized with several accolades, Dr. Wojcik more recently received an Alcatel-Lucent Chief Executive Officer Recognition Award for the AT&T Voice over LTE Project Team Leadership in 2014. He also received a, AT&T Architecture Award, a BellSouth AIN Revenue Generation Services Team Award; and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honorary society. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been included in the first edition of Who's Who in the Media and Communication.
