NEWARK, DE, April 22, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sanford Robbins has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Inspired by the work of Eva Le Gallienne while coming of age, Mr. Robbins decided to pursue a career in theater and the performing arts. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre and a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from Carnegie-Mellon University. Since then, he has contributed throughout his career leading the performing arts departments of several universities. He currently serves as a Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Theatre, and as the Producing Artistic Director of the Resident Ensemble Players, a professional theater, at the University of Delaware. In his current position, Mr. Robbins is responsible for the intricate operations of the ensemble, and is tasked with selecting personnel and choosing which plays will be conducted based on artistic quality.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Robbins was also appointed to the Taskforce of the Theatre Training for the National Endowment of the Arts, and he served as the director of the Moscow Art Theatre Studio. In addition to his academic work in the theater, he designs programs and trains facilitators on behalf of Landmark Worldwide, an international leader in the personal and professional development industry. Moreover, Mr. Robbins excels in a similar capacity for the Vanto Group, a boutique international consulting company that works with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and distinguished nonprofit organizations.
In recognition of his professional endeavors, Mr. Robbins has received the Thalia Award for Best Production in Finland for Shepard's The Tooth of Crime. His program at the University of Delaware was also ranked among the Top 10 Theatre Programs in America by U.S. News and World Report and the top 25 theatre training programs in the English language by Hollywood Reporter. Most recently, in 2019, Mr. Robbins received the John Houseman Award from the Acting Company, which is given to individuals who have forwarded the legacy of John Houseman.
In order to remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Robbins maintains his professional affiliation with the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, the Theatre Communications Group, and the National Theatre Conference. Civically, he is also associated with the Human Rights Committee. He has attributed his professional success to his own luck and to the continued support he has received from strong women throughout his life and career. Looking toward the future, Mr. Robbins aspires to continue growing as an artist and overcoming the numerous challenges inherent to an arts administrator in America.
