Ms. Abrahamson earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1976 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1979 from the University of Michigan Law School. Interested in history and helping others, she was drawn to the field of law because there were so few female attorneys. Over the year, Ms. Abrahamson has been active in several legal organizations, taking on several leadership roles. She is a founding member, Past President, and Board of Governor's member of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. For eight (8) years she served on the Council of the Section of Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association (ABA). She also chaired two major subcommittees of that Section, the preeminent Committee on Employee Rights and Responsibilities and the International Law Committee.
Besides, managing her practice, Ms. Abrahamson serves as a neutral on the employment panel of the American Arbitration Association. She has also served as a mediator on selected matters. Other awards Ms. Abrahamson has received include recognition as one of the Top Ten Attorneys in Illinois by Super Lawyers as published in Chicago Magazine (2007-2010) and as among Super Lawyers Top 50 Women in Illinois consistently since 2006. She has made several of the "Top Ten" list of Illinois Leading Lawyers over the years and some most recently in 2019, including Top Ten Women Attorneys, Top Ten Women Litigators, Top Ten Plaintiff's Employment Attorneys and Top Ten Women Consumer attorneys.
