He also was counsel with Amereller Rechtsanwaelte in Munich, Germany from 2007 to 2008. Mr. Calhoun-Senghor served as a private legal consultant from 2000 to 2007 and as General Counsel and Vice President of International and Legal Affairs with Edenspace Systems Corp. from 1999 to 2000.
From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Calhoun-Senghor was Director of the Office of Space Commercialization at the United States Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, and from 1991 to 1993 he was of counsel with Wood, Williams, Rafalsky & Harris, also in Washington, D.C. He previously served as President of Noma International Enterprises Inc. in Washington, D.C. from 1990 to 1993, Vice President and General Counsel with Technology Applications, Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia from 1986 to 1990, and was a foreign legal fellow with Kreuz, Niebler & Mittl in Munich, Germany in 1986. Earlier in his career, Mr. Calhoun-Senghor was an associate with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in Los Angeles, California and Washington, DC from 1983 to 1985 and a law clerk with Judge John D. Butzner, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia from 1981 to 1982.
Mr. Calhoun-Senghor began his career as a student at Stanford University in California, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, with honors (International Relations), in 1977. Following this accomplishment, he attended Harvard Law School, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1981. He has been admitted to practice by the District of Columbia Bar, the Maryland State Bar, the Virginia State Bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Claims. Mr. Calhoun-Senghor also is licensed as a Solicitor with the Law Society of England & Wales.
Throughout his career, Mr. Calhoun-Senghor has been recognized for his contributions. He was notably a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Bonn in Germany from 1977 to 1978 and a Foreign Legal Fellow with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from 1985 to 1986. He also is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bonn Law School in Bonn, Germany, teaching there since 2012.
