NEW YORK, NY, May 05, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chamari Davis has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and teaching and sociology from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2014, Ms. Davis proceeded to earn a Master of Arts in International Educational Development from the Teachers College at Columbia University in 2019. Supported by initial teaching experience from the Teach for America program, she has excelled as an elementary school teacher at the DREAM Charter School in New York since 2016. Notably, Ms. Davis was recently nominated for the Teacher Apple Award of New York.
Originally founded as a baseball program for the East Harlem in the 1980s, the DREAM Charter School eventually grew into an active school program and full school. Fortunate to experience constant growth, the school is still expanding and has since begun to serve as a high school. Possessed of a unique approach to education, Ms. Davis has earned distinction as a dedicated member of the charter school community, with the drive to positively influence each of her students in a way that is tailored to their individual needs.
Raised among a family of educators, Ms. Davis knew since coming of age that she would become a teacher in her own right. She always felt personally connected with her teachers, and loved the way they challenged her while also creating a safe space for her to grow and take risks. Ms. Davis decided to focus on community service in low-income areas in middle school, and subsequently became passionate about an equal education for all after witnessing first-hand the major differences in schooling that arose from community borders and zoning.
Currently interested in becoming a children's author, Ms. Davis aspires to welcome new opportunities within the near future. Having earned distinction as a teacher, she has observed how integral reading is to the growing and learning student, and thus hopes to be someone who can contribute to children's early development in reading by authoring her own works. Additionally, Ms. Davis was an active member of Leadership of Educational Equity in 2014-2016.
Ms. Davis attributes her career success to the influence of impactful mentors and teachers throughout her lifetime, including Robin Steele, a fellow teacher during her initial years of teaching, and Endeara Colona, an academic dean. Coming of age in the public housing of Hartford, Connecticut, she lived in an area marked by violence, she studiously cultivated whom she chose to associate with while growing up in order emerge, well-prepared, to become a productive member of society. Ms. Davis has come a long way to support herself, and credits a positive outlook for bringing her to where she is today.
