MIAMI, FL, May 06, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Terence G. Connor with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Connor celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

In 50 years of experience in practice, Mr. Connor has earned a reputation as a lead trial attorney in his service as a judge advocate for the Air Force, as a trial attorney at the Justice Department and in his practice from his offices in Miami. Aligned with Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, a large law firm that serves clients in over 100 different practice areas and does business throughout the U.S. and internationally, he is currently serving as special counsel. Joining the firm in 2006, he supervised the labor and employment section for six years as co-leader with Juan Enjamio. Representing clients in labor and employment and employee benefits litigation of varying complexity and on behalf of several large and small corporations, including Johnson and Johnson and American Airlines Inc., Mr. Connor is well-versed in nearly every aspect of labor and employment disputes, including sexual harassment, discrimination and non-competition agreements.

After military service, including a tour in Southeast Asia, Mr. Connor served as a trial attorney at the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice between 1973 and 1976. In this capacity, he prosecuted employment discrimination cases against employers and labor organizations across the country, obtaining judgments eliminating barriers to employment based on race, national origin and gender. In 1976, Connor left government service for the remainder of his career, joining National Airlines Inc. as a labor relations counsel. In 1979, he joined the law firm of Morgan, Lewis and Bockius counseling employers and defending employment and labor claims against them. He also served as the Miami office's managing partner and during one period, as a member of the firm's governing board.

Mr. Connor left Morgan Lewis in 2006 to become a partner in Hunton & Williams (now Hunton Andrews Kurth) where he has continued to represent the clients he had served over the prior decades and others. Since 2012 he has been Special Counsel to the firm.

Beginning in 2008, Mr. Connor has volunteered as a visiting lecturer for the Center for International Legal Studies in Eastern Europe at the University of Tartu in Estonia and Palacky University in the Czech Republic. He also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law in from 2013 to 2017. He is a former member of the board of visitors at Seton Hall University School of Law, as well as a former member of the alumni board at Georgetown University Law Center. Outside of academia, Mr. Connor has served as a seminar panelist on various issues of employment law and trial practice.

Mr. Connor has written various articles in such professional publications as InsideCounsel, Thomson Reuters News & Insight. He was also a chapter editor in "Employment: The Privacy and Data Security Law Desk Book" in 2010 and later editions. In 2013, with Hunton partner Kevin White, Mr. Connor was the principal author of an article published in the Seton Hall Law Review entitled The Consideration of Arrest and Conviction Records in Employment Decisions: A Critique of the EEOC Guidance, for which the Burton Foundation awarded the 2014 Distinguished Legal Writing Award. For 1987, the bicentennial year of the U.S. Constitutional Convention, Mr. Connor organized a series of town meetings on the Constitution at which hundreds of local citizens participated in debates over various articles of the founding document under the supervision of judges from the Florida and federal courts. He has served in various roles in the Florida and American Bar Associations, chairing various committees addressing labor and employment issues. He was also a founding member and later chair of the personnel and labor management committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Mr. Connor received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1964 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1967 from Seton Hall University. In the 1960's two issues of critical importance dominated: the effort to bring down racial barriers in the United States, and the nation's involvement in war in Southeast Asia (Vietnam and Laos). Mr. Connor stepped into both. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and served for five years as a judge advocate, during which time he defended airmen, soldiers and officers in courts martial and administrative discharge boards both in the U.S. and in Southeast Asia.

Returning to Georgetown University in 1972, as he was completing his military obligation, he earned a Master of Laws in 1975, focusing on labor and employment law. He has been admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Florida, before several courts of appeals and before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is certified as a circuit-civil mediator by the Florida Supreme Court.

Mr. Connor has maintained his professional alignment with several organizations pertinent to his practice. He is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers since 2000 and was a charter member of the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys. He has continued a career-long commitment to pro bono service, advising various arts and community organizations and representing veterans of the U.S. military services in protecting their benefits.

In 2009, Mr. Connor was recognized with a Key Partners Award from South Florida Business Journal. In acknowledgment of his exemplary law career, Mr. Connor has been consistently highlighted in other major legal publications, including the Best Lawyers in America every year since 2006, Florida Super Lawyers between 2006 and 2019 and various issues of the South Florida Legal Guide, Best Lawyers in America's employment law and labor law section and Chambers USA.
