A dedicated member of her community, Ms. Figueiredo contributes to those in need as a volunteer with Chapman Hospice and Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio.
Over the years, Ms. Figueiredo has been recognized many times for her stellar work, accepting the Teacher Award from the Lowell Education Foundation in 1986, the Achievement Award from the California Home Economics Association in 1992 and the Curriculum Showcase from the American Association of Consumer and Family Sciences in 1995. Additionally, she received the Teacher Award and an Exemplary Program Award through the California Department of Education in 2000 and 2015, respectively. Ms. Figueiredo retains her professional alignment with the National Association of Professional Women, through which she was inducted in 2015.
In pursuit of her dream career, Ms. Figueiredo earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from Framingham State College in 1982. She continued her studies with a Master of Arts in Curriculum Instruction from Chapman University in 1991. She additionally obtained a profession certificate in STEM disciplines through the University of California, Riverside. Looking toward the future, Ms. Figueiredo aims to retire and devote her time to her community, including channeling her expertise into developing communes for homeless people.
