NORTH PORT, FL, May 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Wallace Harry Hill with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Hill celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having garnered more than 50 years of experience in TV broadcasting and related fields, Mr. Hill garnered a laudable reputation as a TV production manager and TV consultant. He attended the University of Illinois on a football scholarship, but was drafted instead and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Mr. Hill broke his ankle and leg during a parachute jump, ending his football career. He was sent to Germany, where he talked his way into the Armed Force's Network. He came home and attended American University for the next four years. The last two years he worked full time at WMAL-TV (TV was still in black and white) and had a full time class schedule. He graduated in 1960.
In 1960, Mr. Hill moved to New York and went to work at NBC. He worked his way from the mail room, through Operations to the Production Department. He left NBC in 1964 for a four hour TV documentary on Africa. He spent the next six months traveling through East and Central Africa. The show aired in 1965 with Gregory Peck as the narrator.
For the next ten years, Mr. Hill did a myriad of jobs: PM on a feature film about Ravi Shankar; AP on a documentary series: AP on a pilot for NBC; WP on recruiting films for the Army; and general manager of a NYC animation company.
In 1976 he rejoined NBC and spent sixteen years working a production manager. He worked on two Olympics, three Breeder's Cups, three Players Championships and many shows on all major sports.
In 1992 he was told he was being let go because "You're too old (57) and you make too much money". Mr. Hill reinvented himself as a TV Sports Consultant with two clients, the NBA and the NHL. After 14 years of being a Consultant he retired. He spends his winters in Florida and his summers in upstate NY.
