FLETCHER, NC, May 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Keynon Lake has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Lake is renowned as a speaker, radio host, author and social worker with nearly 20 years of community involvement and outreach to his credit. His father, an original Harlem Globetrotter and a career social worker who served for more than 30 years at a juvenile evaluation center, was his earliest inspiration and his best friend. Naturally, he was inspired to follow him into social work and community activism. Mr. Lake notably earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education.
Since 2002, Mr. Lake has been active as a social worker for the Buncombe County Department of Social Services. He established My Daddy Taught Me That, a developmental mentorship program for young men between the ages of 12 and 19, in 2012. Based on his 2012 book of the same name, My Daddy Taught Me That partners with schools, low-income housing developments, faith organizations and the juvenile court system to provide academic and emotional support to young men through tutoring, discussion groups, field trips and career training opportunities. Mr. Lake describes the organization's mission as providing young men in underserved communities in the Asheville area with the opportunity to experience what it means to be real men by becoming positive, productive and committed community leaders.
In addition to his community outreach work, Mr. Lake is the host of "The Keynon Lake Show," a radio show on the Streaming Inspiration Broadcast Network tackling topics related to family and culture. Attributing his success to God, he believes that he has had a light placed into his heart and a platform set before him to fulfill his purpose. While he is frequently encouraged to run for political office, he prefers to focus on his immediate community involvement. In the coming years, Mr. Lake hopes to expand My Daddy Taught Me That into a national program while transitioning toward consulting work.
