Drawing upon years of practiced expertise in law enforcement, criminal justice and law, Mr. Acosta excels as the President and Attorney of the Acosta Law Office, P.C., a veteran owned and operated small business, where he specializes in criminal defense, family and immigration law. During this time, he also served as the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for Starke County Prosecutor's Office and while establishing the eponymous firm, Mr. Acosta gained valuable expertise in the field as a Deputy Prosecutor for Porter County Prosecutor's Office and a certified legal intern for Bockman & Associates, LLC.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Acosta worked as a library student assistant for Valparaiso University Law School from 2014 until 2015, the founder and the Chief Executive Officer of the Lady Behind the Shield Scholarship Fund from 2013 until 2015 and a Criminal Justice instructor for Georgia Military College between 2012 and 2013. Over the years, while living in the State of Georgia, he has also honed his knowledge of the criminal justice system through varying positions with Rockdale County Magistrate Court, the Butts County Sheriff's Office, the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the Jonesboro Police Department. Between the mid-1990's and the early 2000's he served our country in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps and as a K-9 Officer before being honorably discharged.
In pursuit of his aspirations, Mr. Acosta earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, as well as a Master of Science in the same discipline through Troy University. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in criminal law through Valparaiso University Law School in 2015. He remains aware of changes in the field through his alignment with the Indiana State Bar Association and American Bar Association. Devoted to his community, he also contributes to those in need through the Knights of Columbus, the American Inns of Court - Porter County, Porter County Bar Association, and the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
