Distinguished as an artist for more than 66 years, Margo Allman has been exhibiting her life's work in a major retrospective exhibit "Layered Abstraction" (with catalog and video), which is being featured at the Delaware Art Museum throughout 2020. Since the 1950's, she has displayed her work at various institutions in solo and group exhibits with the Delaware Art Museum, the Delaware Contemporary, the West Chester University and the Regional Center for Women in the Arts of Pennsylvania, and the Biggs Museum of American Art in Delaware, to name a few.
Earlier in her career, Margo Allman served as an artist-in-residence with Canakkale Seramik in Turkey. Furthermore, she has had the honor of having her work recognized in galleries around the world, including Art in Form Gallery in Germany, the Grimaldis Gallery of Baltimore, the Moore College of Art & Design and the Contemporary Women Artist of Philadelphia, and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences of New Jersey. She also is represented in the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Delaware Art Museum, Tidewater Publishers Company, Hercules, Inc., Dansko, and others. Although her career has been filled with honors, Margo Allman is proud of a major retrospective with catalog at the Westchester University, Pennsylvania in 2008.
Throughout her career, Margo Allman has received her professional training at the Smith College, the University of Delaware, the Moore College of Art & Design, and the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts. She maintains involvement with artistic organizations including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Woodmere Art Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Delaware Art Museum and more. Dedicated to her artistic community, Margo Allman has served as a member of the board of directors for the Print Club of Philadelphia and the Robert Small Dance Company.
In recognition of her outstanding body of work, Margo Allman was awarded the Landscape Prize from Wilmington Trust Bank, the Mildred Boericke Prize from the Print Club of Philadelphia and a Distinguished Alumnae Award from the Moore College of Art & Design. Additionally, she recently obtained an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been highlighted in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. In the coming years, Margo Allman intends to continue channeling her unique artistic abilities and innate skill into her exemplary professional efforts.
