Dr. Ioannis Poulakis holds two European/U.S. patents and one international patent

Drawing upon years of expertise in project management, chemical engineering and sales, Dr. Poulakis serves as the global business development director of Imerys Talc N. America. In this capacity, he has supervised and expanded on the company's worldwide business development opportunities across all markets. Likewise, Dr. Poulakis has driven Imerys Talc N. America's global sales in existing and new markets, supervised commercial responsibilities with strategic global key accounts and performed regular bi-annual technical meetings in each region.
Prior to this promotion, Dr. Poulakis worked for Imerys as a business development and key plastic accounts manager and a market manager for plastics, coatings and elastomers. Earlier in his career, he excelled as a technical manager for NYCO Minerals Incorporated. He further flourished in numerous roles throughout his industry, including as the manager of technical support for S&B between the late 1990s and 2014. Dr. Poulakis currently maintains his professional alignment with the Society of Plastic Engineers and the Industrial Mineral Engineers Network in order to remain aware of changes in the field.
An expert in his field, Dr. Poulakis subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the Economic University of Piraeus in Greece. He initially earned a Master of Science in thermo-plastics composites and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. Devoted to his community, Dr. Poulakis dedicates himself to Boxes for Borders, which he founded, during his spare time.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Poulakis co-authored a chapter in "The Polymeric Materials Encyclopedia," as well as more than 16 articles in scientific journals, 17 conferences on plastic waste separation and recycling. For his outstanding work in the field, he received the Best Chemical Engineering Presentation Award from Plastika Petzetakis in 1990. He holds two European/U.S. patents and one international patent. In the coming years, Dr. Poulakis intends to remain active in the industry while welcoming new opportunities.
