Dr. Landis is a talented systems engineer and business executive who has demonstrated great tenacity in building a noteworthy career that began with his military service in the United States Marine Corps. He served with distinction during the Vietnam Campaign, the 1976 Evacuation of Beirut, and the Gulf War/Desert Storm. A graduate of air defense, intelligence, and tactical air control schools, Dr. Landis received the Navy Marine Corp Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon during his service.
His educational accomplishments began in conjunction with his military career. Initially earning a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma, he went on to graduate with a Master of Arts in human resources management from Pepperdine University in 1981, a Master of Science in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1983, and a Master of Science in engineering process and design from Texas Tech University in 2001. Dr. Landis concluded his educational pursuits in 2009 with a PhD in engineering.
In 1983, Dr. Landis started his engineering career at E-Systems which was acquired by Raytheon in 1995 with whom he continued to work as a Senior Principle Systems Engineer then moved to the position of Senior Principle Physics Engineer specializing in systems design, algorithm development, and processing of space and airborne sensors. During his career with Raytheon, He was a section manager for the radar mode development and technical manager of systems engineering products. In 2019, he retired from Raytheon with lifetime achievement commendation from the United States Senate presented by Senator Ted Cruz for dedicated service to the Security to the United States. Currently he works as an engineering contractor and consultant.
Dr. Landis' publications, awards, and professional organizations include: "Future Tasking, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TPED) Domain, Redefining the Need" published by Design Process, and Production, the College of Engineering, Texas Tech University, 2001; "Common Collection Assessment Framework for Image Based Experiments", Journal of Sound and Vibration, October 1, 2010; and "Free-Pendulum Vibration Absorber Experiment and Analysis Using Digital Images, Elsevier Editorial System", Journal of Sound and Vibration. He was awarded an Author and Inventors award from Raytheon, North Texas for identification and protection of intellectual property through internal and external publications, presentations, and invention disclosures. He is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electronics Engineering) and INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering).
In 2002, Dr. Landis and his wife of fifty years, Dale Ann Landis, made their home in Waxahachie, Texas where they founded Landis Enterprises LLC, a commercial licensing company. Currently he serves as the CEO and Managing Partner of the world famous Catfish Plantation, a veteran-owned Southern/Cajun Style Restaurant founded in 1984 and a designated historical landmark and Go-Texan restaurant. The location has been featured on Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, History Channel, Food Network, and SciFi. He is a member of the American Legion. He and his wife are members of the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and participate in several charitable organizations.
