MOUNT VERNON, OH, June 02, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. R. Michael Traugh has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Drawing upon a lifelong interest in education, Dr. Traugh currently serves as a professor of education, specializing in professional ethics and leadership at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, where he previously worked as the interim dean for the School of Education and Professional Studies, as well as an associate and assistant professor. Earlier in his career, he gained valuable expertise in education as a principal, an assistant superintendent and the superintendent of Gallon City Schools and as a teacher with Columbus Public Schools. Even though his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Traugh is especially proud of writing a grant that cut high school dropout rates by 67% while funding tutors and mentors for at-risk students from eighth grade through high school.
An expert in his field, Dr. Traugh initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Michigan State University in 1971. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration from the Ohio State University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he has been affiliated with the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, the American Association of School Administrators, the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Secondary Schools Recognition Program, Instructional Technology Services of Central Ohio and the Association for Supervisors and Curriculum Developers. Dedicated to his community, Dr. Traugh has also dedicated his time and resources to those in need through the United Way, the Sunbury United Methodist Church and the Galion Rotary Club.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Traugh has contributed to the Even Start Program Evaluation for Huron County, the "Ohio Reads Program Evaluation Report for the North Union Local Schools," Project PEERS and the "Least Restrictive Environment Project Evaluation Report for an Office of Exceptional Children Grant." In light of his professional accomplishments, he was presented with the Adult and Graduate Studies Faculty Member of the Year Award from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2006. Looking toward the future, Dr. Traugh intends to continue teaching and consulting.
