John Frala is currently hosting one of six Tesla technician training centers in the United States.

Backed by considerable expertise in education and alternative fuels, Mr. Frala serves as a professor of alternative fuels technology, a coordinator and an instructor of alternative fuels and electric vehicles, the lead principal investigator for the NSF/ATE grant and a coordinator of battery electric vehicles for Rio Hondo College. Additionally, he works as a national training center member representative for West Virginia University's National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium and as an AFV trainer for CNG, hybrid, plug-in and hydrogen vehicles for the American Honda Motor Company, where he previously flourished as a Honda PACT instructor. During the early years of his career, Mr. Frala gained valuable expertise in the field as a service mechanic with General Motors. He is currently hosting one of six Tesla technician training centers in the United States.
An expert in his field, Mr. Frala has obtained a Bachelor of Arts in business administration, a Master of Arts in adult education, a master's degree and a Master of Arts in adult education distance learning from the University of Phoenix. Over the years, he has received certifications in the fundamentals of emergency management, the Incident Command Management System, introduction to the Incident Command System for law enforcement and the National Incident Management System through FEMA. Mr. Frala has been additionally certified in electric vehicle safety for emergency responders and electric/hybrid/fuel cell safety for trucks, buses and commercial fleet vehicles through the National Fire Protection Agency.
Devoted to his community, Mr. Frala contributes to those in need through Helping Humanity in Need, where he helps collect goods for the homeless. In previous years, he dedicated himself to Foothill Transportation Workforce Development, where he is now an apponited board member, and the Automotive Service Council Educational Foundation. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Frala is especially proud of obtaining the first National Science Foundation grant for hydrogen training.
For his professional accomplishments, Mr. Frala was honored as the California Green Community Colleges Leadership Instructor through Rio Hondo College in 2011. His work was further recognized for Outstanding Program by the California Governor's Office in 2019. Looking ahead, Mr. Frala aims to take his existing program and implement them for other community colleges.
