Stanley D. Neeleman is a professor emeritus of law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where, for over 30 years, he taught courses in income and transfer taxation, estate and business planning and professional responsibility. He formerly was a partner at Holme Roberts & Owen in Denver, Colorado, and currently is of counsel at Parr Waddoups Brown Gee & Loveless in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has served as professor-in-residence and acting assistant to the commissioner at the national office of the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Neeleman has authored books and articles dealing with tax, estate, and business planning and has developed sophisticated software to facilitate the delivery of estate planning and other legal services. He is a member of the Colorado and Utah Bar Associations and a fellow of both the American College of Tax Counsel and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He has served as president of the tax and estate planning sections of the Utah State Bar and received the Federal Bar Association award for significant contributions to the development and practice of federal law.
Mr. Neeleman holds an AV Preeminent rating through Martindale-Hubbell, has been regularly listed in Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America and has been thrice recognized by the latter publication as Lawyer of the Year in his practice areas. He received his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Westminster College; his Master of Arts from the George Washington University; and his Doctor of Jurisprudence, summa cum laude, from the University of Denver. While attending the University of Denver, he served as editor-in-chief of the Denver Law Journal. He is married to the former Sheryl Lynn Hunt and, together, they have three children, Lori, Robert and Andrew.
