Backed by decades of expertise in the field of law, Mr. Smock excels as a partner with Smock & Etling, which he established in 1972 after working as an Indiana Deputy Attorney General in the litigation department. Throughout his career, he has specialized in criminal law and personal injury law, and has handled thousands of criminal cases, including numerous murder trials in both state and federal court. Additionally, Mr. Smock has also handled numerous death penalty cases in Vigo County and throughout the State of Indiana.
In pursuit of his legal aspirations, Mr. Smock initially earned a Bachelor of Science in English and Social Science from Indiana State University in 1968. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University in 1972. He has been admitted to practice law in Indiana and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Smock remains aware of changes in the field through his alignment with the Terre Haute Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
