As a nuclear medicine physician, he has specific expertise in FDG PET/CT scanning and in the radioactive iodine treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer. Affiliated with the University Medical Center since 2004, Doctor Conte's prior commitment have included serving as the chief of nuclear medicine at Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston and as the medical director of the Department of Medical Imaging at Saint Michaels Medical Center in Newark. During the course of his distinguished career, he was notably involved with multiple residency programs as well as affiliations at several medical schools.
He was the Program Director of the Nuclear Radiology Residency Program while at St. Barnabas Medical Center. Also, he established a conjoint nuclear medicine technology program in conjunction with Seton Hall University in South Orange whereby students received three years of college education at the university and the fourth year learning nuclear medicine theory and practical education experience at the medical center under Dr. Conte's tutelage. Thus, after four years, the students attained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University and a certificate of completion from the medical center. The graduates were then eligible to take the nuclear medicine registry examination.

He worked as the radiology editor of the first edition of "Effective Medical Imaging: A Signs and Symptoms Approach." Published in 1993 by Williams and Wilkins, the book provides physicians with a guide on how to order radiologic tests, and serves as a point of reference on thinking more critically regarding the diagnostic imaging process. Likewise, Dr. Conte authored "Converging Paths of Ancient Ayurveda and Modern Medicine" in 2007, "Mysteries of Life, Death and Beyond" in 2016 and "Revelations of the Ancient Past: How Extraterrestrial Gods Influenced the Evolution and History of Humankind" in 2020.
During his fourth year of Pre-Med at Seton Hall University, Dr. Conte was called to active duty together with his Medical/Surgical Army Reserve unit for one year. He was accepted into Stritch School of Medicine of Loyola University immediately after leaving active military service and after three years of college. In 1964, Dr. Conte was honorably discharged from the Army. He went on to graduate from medical school and received a medical degree in 1966. He completed a straight medical internship, radiology residency, and nuclear medicine fellowship at State University of New York Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse from 1966 to 1971. He is board certified by the American Board of General Radiology, The American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and the American Board of Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and is a certified Ayurvedic practitioner. He is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. He has lectured on hypnotherapy, Ayurveda, and the Chakras.
Doctor Conte has been a proud member in the past of several pertinent organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, American College Radiology, American College of Nuclear Medicine, Radiologic Society in North America. Among his accolades, he was bestowed with a silver medical award for his exhibit at the Society of Nuclear Medicine. Outside of his full-time commitment, Doctor Conte remains active as the president of the Roseland Board of Health in Roseland, NJ since 1980.
