Now retired from a long and successful career in education and library science, Mr. Moore departed from the Pierce College Library in Los Angeles in 2010 after 36 years as an assistant and adjunct professor. During his renowned career, he was also employed as an adjunct computer professor at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College; as well as the director of the English and citizen program, the director for amnesty education and an instructor of learning at Los Angeles City College. Early on, Mr. Moore taught English at the Berlitz School in Germany, which was when he began to develop an interest in German history.
Throughout his career, Mr. Moore has extensively studied the American West and the American Indian wars. He also has significant knowledge in Tombstone history. His research has led him to travel throughout Europe, as well as in the United States to such locations as the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Montana.
A widely published and talented writer, Mr. Moore's first published short story, entitled "The Treasure of Custer Hill," was released in 1979 through the London Mystery Selection, a quarterly anthology of original thrillers. This short story was later reprinted in his one of his books, "Custer's Ghosts and Custer's Gold." Some of Mr. Moore's other books have included "A Guidebook to U.S. Army Dress Helmets 1872-1904," "Where the Custer Fight Began: Undermanned and Overwhelmed, The Reno Valley Fight" and his first novel, "Custer Must Die: A Story of His Assassination." Additionally, he has contributed periodical articles to American Military Heritage Magazine, Man at Arms magazine and Wild West magazine.
After acquiring an associate degree at Los Angeles Valley College in 1967, Mr. Moore received a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Master of Arts in learning disabilities at California State University in 1970 and 1973, respectively. He also received a Master of Science in library science at the University of Southern California in 1974.
Mr. Moore is a member of several professional organizations, including the Little Big Horn Associates, the Company of Military Historians, the Western Writers of America, the Custer Battlefield Preservation Committee and the Mystery Writers of America. He is also a member of the Wild West History Association, where he was first introduced to Billy the Kid at its Lincoln, New Mexico, convention. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Moore has been cited in over 40 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
