With 20 years of practiced experience in research, community planning and development, grant preparation and data system maintenance to his credit, Mr. Kamps excels as a chief research analyst for the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services, for which he previously served as a senior research analyst. Over the years, he has prepared quarterly reports on all grants funded through the aforementioned department, developed research models for funding nonprofit organizations throughout Chicago, and both written and edited grant applications for HUD and HHS funding resulting in revenues exceeding $100 million. Likewise, Mr. Kamps has reviewed departmental contracts to ensure work programs and budgets complied with all grantor requirements and analyzed U.S. Census data to determine demographic trends within the city of Chicago.
Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Kamps is especially proud of receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the city of Chicago in 1998. Additionally, he has flourished as a professorial development instructor at the University of Chicago, for which he was honored to teach seminars on developing the best practices as well as obtaining grants and funding. Due to his considerable expertise in child development outcomes and economic stressors on families, Mr. Kamps has been requested to talk on a variety of topics around the world.
In pursuit of his career, Mr. Kamps earned a Bachelor of Arts in social welfare from the University of Minnesota. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Arts in social services administration and public policy from the University of Chicago. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he has been or is currently affiliated with the Western Economic Association, the American Association of Pediatrics, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning and the Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. Devoted to his community, he contributes to those in need as a volunteer with Open Hands, Toys for Tots and Saint Michael's Church. In light of his outstanding work, he was presented with a Public Service Achievement Award in 1998. Looking ahead, Mr. Kamps intends to publish a book on his research regarding minorities and obtain a PhD in public health.
