After receiving a Bachelor of Science in economics from Colorado State University in 1956, General Litke was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and initially served in the Air Rescue Service. Although he did not intend to continue his involvement with the military, he gradually drew immense gratification from his ability to save lives and serve his country. General Litke subsequently advanced through the grades for 30 years, during which he ultimately attained the rank of a major general. During his service, General Litke received a Master of Science in international affairs from George Washington University in 1966 and graduated from the Naval and National War Colleges.
Throughout his military career, General Litke was stationed in Morocco, the Azores, Vietnam, Thailand, Germany and Turkey. After retiring, he earned distinction as the president of Business Development International in Alexandria, Virginia and Niceville, Florida. For his exceptional military accomplishments, General Litke has been bestowed with numerous accolades. To wit, he earned The Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal and many other medals and awards.
A dedicated civic advocate, General Litke maintains his affiliation with Northwest Florida State College, Children in Crisis, the Institute for Senior Professionals and his local church council. Professionally, he is a member of the Air Force Association and the national fraternity of Alpha Tau Omega. A dedicated adherent of his Christian Methodist faith, General Litke is the proud father of three children, as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
