With decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Storts currently serves as an attorney and partner at Barton & Storts, as well as judge pro tempore for Pima County, Arizona Justice Court. He has obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Missouri Valley College in 1959, a Bachelor of Law from the University of Missouri in 1962, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969 from the University of Missouri, and admitted to practice law in the state of Arizona in 1976. However, Mr. Storts began his career as an assistant prosecutor in 1962 for the state of Missouri in St. Louis County before finding success in the Attorney General's Office for the state of Missouri. Mr. Storts was chief counsel of the Consumer Fraud Division of that office.
For his professional accomplishments, Mr. Storts has earned an AV-Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2007. Further recognized among the Top 100 National Trial Lawyers, he was notably presented with the Robert Hooker Criminal Justice Award from Pima County in 2015. Mr. Storts has attributed his success to hard work, which he considers to be difficult and time-consuming yet ultimately fulfilling. Mr. Storts is also certified by the State Bar of Arizona as a criminal law expert. In Arizona, approximately 700 attorneys out of some 17,000 are so certified in some eight areas of the practice of law. Mr. Storts, in his career as a trial lawyer, has tried in excess of 900 felony jury trials. He has tried some 67 first degree murder cases since 1996, both death and non-death, and eight death cases since juries, "State v. Ring," were given the duty to determine life or death of a convicted individual.

Civically, Mr. Storts additionally served for eight years as an elected member of the Pima County Bar Board of Directors. He maintains his professional affiliation with the State Bar of Arizona, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Arizona Attorneys for Criminal Justice, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. In the coming years, Mr. Storts plans to step back from his professional responsibilities.
