While searching for a job that would allow him to travel overseas, Mr. Konopik made the decision to join the U.S. Air Force in order to pursue a fulfilling career. Following three years of inimitable service to the Air Force, he accepted a job with the Department of State. Mr. Konopik remained active with the Department of State as a communications officer for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1995.
As a communication officer for the Department of State, Mr. Konopik worked in U.S. embassies across the world. He was notably responsible for the emergency network of the embassy, which included radio and television. He also worked as a cryptographic officer. Throughout his career, Mr. Konopik was most grateful to work in the Office of Mission Control in Washington, D.C. for two years.
Following his retirement from the field, Mr. Konopik undertook coursework at the College of Southern Nevada, graduating in 2000 with certification in drafting in AutoCAD. AutoCAD is a software intended for use in drafting designs and technical drawings. Presently, Mr. Konopik maintains his professional affiliation with the Future Farmers of America.
