COLUMBUS, OH, June 25, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Richard C. Lorenz with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Lorenz celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Having accrued well over 25 years of inimitable experience in the field of biology, Mr. Lorenz has garnered a laudable reputation in his position as a water utility manager on behalf of the city of Westerville, Ohio, since 1993. He previously found success as the chief biologist of the Columbus Division of Water from 1985 to 1993 and as a research biologist between 1981 and 1985. In addition to his commitments in Westerville, Mr. Lorenz has served as an instructor at the Stone Laboratory at Ohio State University, where he has parleyed his knowledge to students in a workshop setting for over a decade.
As a seasoned researcher, Mr. Lorenz has conducted extensive studies regarding drinking water quality and lake management. Furthermore, he has contributed 10 articles to various peer-reviewed journals as a result of his efforts, as well as chapters in "Biogeography at the Island Region of Western Lake Erie," released in 1988 and "Problem Organisms in Water: Identification and Treatment," AWWA 2004. A dedicated civic advocate, Mr. Lorenz has contributed to his community as the president of the Friends of Stone Laboratory in Put-In-Bay, Ohio, and served in a similar capacity for the Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries.
Prior to entering college, Mr. Lorenz drew considerable influence from the ongoing environmental movements of the early 1970s, during which the outcry over water quality became much stronger. Deciding to involve himself, he immersed himself in the field after high school, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in botany at Miami University in 1976, and a Master of Science in environmental biology at Ohio State University in 1981. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Lorenz is likewise a licensed water plant operator and a board certified environmental scientist.
To remain aware of developments effecting his field, Mr. Lorenz is a past vice president of the National Management Association. He is also a life member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), where he formerly served on the governing board of the Ohio section and as the former chairperson of the Ohio section. Other memberships to Mr. Lorenz's credit include the American Society for Microbiology, the Ohio Lake Management Society and the Water Management Association of Ohio.
Well-regarded throughout his discipline, Mr. Lorenz was notably bestowed with a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant between 1979 and 1981.
