Having accrued more than 35 years of specialty in the fields of law, claims and litigation, risk management, compliance and healthcare management, Ms. Bixenstine has garnered a laudable reputation as an exemplary lawyer, leader and mediator. She attended Middlebury College, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude. Ms. Bixenstine then earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Chicago in 1982, and was admitted to practice law by the state bar of Ohio during the same year.
From 1982 until 1983, Ms. Bixenstine earned distinction as a law clerk to Judge David Porter of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She practiced law as an associate of Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue of Cleveland in 1983, and as a partner of the firm between 1991 and 1999. Ms. Bixenstine subsequently served as a senior counsel for TRW Inc. from 1999 to 2001, and as the company's vice president and chief litigation counsel from 2002 until 2003.
Ms. Bixenstine entered healthcare management in 2003, initially as the vice president and deputy counsel for the University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland, Ohio from 2003 to 2015. She was promoted to the position of chief compliance officer in 2015 and served in that role until 2019.
Upon retiring from University Hospitals in April 2019, she joined her husband at Bixenstine Resolutions, a private mediation and arbitration firm. Ms. Bixenstine is the former chair of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland. She received the prestigious YWCA Woman of Achievement Award in 2015, and was named in 2017 as the Smart Business Nonprofit Executive of the Year for her work in the greater community. Moreover, Ms. Bixenstine serves on the Boards of Trustees of Great Lakes Theater and Shaker Heights Development Corporation, several committees for the City of Shaker Heights and the Cleveland Bar Association.
