BATON ROUGE, LA, June 25, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marwa M. Hassan has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
While coming of age, Dr. Hassan regarded engineering as the ingenuity of the world. In the pursuit of her career, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in construction engineering from the American University in Cairo, a Master of Science in civil and environmental engineering from Cairo University and a Doctor of Philosophy in environmental design and planning from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. Dr. Hassan is also an ASCE Fellow, an OSHA certified instructor of excavation safety, a LEED accredited professional in building design and construction, a Sloan C certified online instructor and a professional engineer in civil engineering in the state of Virginia.
Dr. Hassan commenced her career in teaching positions at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She eventually transferred to Louisiana State University, where she has taught and conducted research for more than a decade. She currently serves as the CETF & Jacobs Professor of Excellence at the institution, where she focuses her research on the implementation of advanced and nano materials in civil and construction applications to enhance resilience, durability and sustainability of the infrastructure. Dr. Hassan has become adept in using life cycle assessment tools, construction simulation tools such as Stroboscope and Ezstrobe as well as experimental tools. She is currently the directory of a 15 million dollar university transportation center "Tran-SET"
For her efforts as a professor, researcher and engineer, Dr. Hassan has received recognition from many respected industry organizations. She has been presented with the Jacobs' Professor of Excellence Award, the Outstanding Reviewer Award from the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, and the Architectural Research Centers Consortium King Medal. Dr. Hassan was also nominated for the Rain-Maker Mid-Career Award and the LTRC Foundation Outstanding Young Researcher Award.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hassan has attributed her success to a love for her work and her knack for collaborating with others. She believes that by working with the right people to solve problems, it will always be easier to find a solution to any obstacle. Looking toward the future, Dr. Hassan aspires to continue researching and eventually garner a senior administrative position at the university.
