Backed by decades of experience in engineering, Dr. Brockmeier has served as the president of Oakwood Consulting Inc. since 1992. Previously, he worked as a research associate for Amoco Chemical Co. between 1971 and 1992. Over the years, he also gained valuable expertise in the field as an assistant professor for the University of Texas at Austin and a research engineer for Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co. Additionally, Dr. Brockmeier has parlayed his considerable expertise to others through varying roles with the Ohio State University, Argonne National Laboratory and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Brockmeier is especially proud of serving as the president and a principal of a group of five principals dedicated to the design of the latest catalysts to manufacture polyolefins using new metallocene formulations to promote the manufacture of the latest and best polyolefins and their co-polymers. Some other memorable moments in his career include obtaining a patent for polymerization reactor control, initiating the Catherine C. and Norman Brockmeier Scholarship Fund at LHSN to assist students who are interested in careers in church-related teaching or as pastors, and being recognized as a leader at a Lutheran high school in St. Louis. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Brockmeier has contributed to several publications and presentations to technical assemblies over the years regarding such topics as "Comparison of Latest Processes for Polypropylene Manufacture," "The Amoco/Chisso Gas Phase Polypropylene Copolymer Technology," "Scoping Economics for the Commercial Manufacture of Metallocene Catalysts" and "A Process to Recover Plastics from Obsolete Automobiles."
A registered professional engineer, Dr. Brockmeier earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and a Doctor of Philosophy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He retains his professional alignment with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, the Creation Research Society and Educators for Social Responsibility. Dedicated to his community, Dr. Brockmeier has been affiliated with a number of civic organizations and institutions, including Glenbard High School, the Illinois Association of School Boards, Faith Lutheran Church and the West Suburban Interfaith Peace Initiative.
As a testament to his outstanding body of work, Dr. Brockmeier became recognized as a fellow with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 1999. During the early 1990s, he was also featured in the 1st edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and the 24th edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.
