Mr. Kracke excelled as an editor for the Birmingham Bar Bulletin, where he reviewed books between 1974 and 2018. He also served on the board of editors for the Alabama Lawyer between 1980 and 1986 and again between 2003 and 2007. Additionally, Mr. Kracke contributed numerous articles to various professional journals in his area of expertise.
Outside of law, Mr. Kracke authored a paper for the Alabama Historical Society about the founding of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, which his father had established and served as the first dean of its medical school. Actively engaged with various civic and community organizations over the past 50 years, Mr. Kracke has maintained involvement with the coordinating committee of the National Convention of ARC of the U.S. since 1999 and as the president and treasurer of the November Organ Recital Series since 1999. Moreover, he has garnered a laudable reputation serving as a trustee of the I.P.C. Foundation, Independent Presbyterian Church, since 2004.
Mr. Kracke initially studied at Birmingham Southern College. He later transferred to Samford University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1962, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University's Cumberland School of Law in 1965. Prior to completing his schooling, Mr. Kracke notably served in the U.S. Naval Reserve between 1955 and 1961, with two years of active duty between 1955 and 1957. He has since been admitted to practice law by the Alabama Bar Association, the U.S. Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.
To support his professional endeavors, Mr. Kracke has remained active with several pertinent organizations, including the Alabama Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Judicature Society and has served on various committees of the Birmingham Bar Association. Additional memberships to his credit include the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society, the Birmingham-Jefferson Historical Society, the Alabama Historical Association, the Southern Historical Association and his local chapter of Rotary International, where he served as the president, secretary and director. In recognition of his accomplishments in the legal field, Mr. Kracke received a 50-Year Certificate from both the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar Association and received an AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He also received an Award of Courage from the ARC of Alabama in 2009 and a Vocational Service Award from the Rotary Club of Shades Valley in 2012.
