For her accomplishments throughout her career, Dr. Reba Ross Hollingsworth was inducted into the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame.
DOVER, DE, July 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Reba Ross Hollingsworth, PhD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Hollingsworth began her career as a home economics teacher at Rains, South Carolina in 1949 before becoming a teacher at William C. Jason Comprehensive High School, Georgetown, Delaware in 1954, where she made an impact on her students even after her retirement, and would often receive updates from students following their graduation. She eventually received an offer to become a guidance counselor and accepted a role at Dover High School. Meanwhile, Dr. Hollingsworth, along with her late husband, Berlin, owned Hollingsworth and Hollingsworth Consultant Services, which offered pre-marriage counseling, parliamentary procedure workshops and training sessions.
As a child, Dr. Hollingsworth would spend her time teaching her brothers, sisters and other children in the neighborhood. She had always wanted to become a teacher and enjoyed learning things from young children, even as they learned from her. Dr. Hollingsworth received a Bachelor of Science in home economics from Delaware State College, a Master of Education in guidance and counseling from the University of Delaware and a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling from Pacific Western University.
For her accomplishments throughout her career, Dr. Hollingsworth was inducted into the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame. Most recently, she was presented with the Richard Allen Coalition Award. She has attributed her professional success to her honesty and integrity. Today, she maintains her professional affiliation with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Delaware State University National Alumni Association, the Delaware Heritage Commission and the Whatcoat United Methodist Church. In the coming years, Dr. Hollingsworth plans to write a book.
