Inspired by local criminal defense attorney Percy Foreman, Mr. Book pursued a career in law, culminating in his current work as a partner of Taylor, Book, Allen and Morris LLP. Throughout the last 45 years, he has litigated a number of cases in both state and federal courts in a variety of areas, including product liability, personal injury defense, construction law, professional liability, commercial litigation and casualty matters. Supported by his extensive experience, Mr. Book has tried lawsuits involving refinery and plant explosions, as well as accidents at facilities and drilling sites throughout the state.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Book gained valuable expertise in the field as a trial lawyer with Taylor, Book, Matthews and Limmer LLP. In a career suffused with highlights, he is especially proud to have built his reputation as a defense trial lawyer. In order to remain aware of changes affecting the field, Mr. Book aligns himself with a number of organizations, including the Houston, Texas and Illinois Bar Associations, the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Defense Counsel.
During the 1960s, Mr. Book pursued a formal education at Stephen F. Austin State University, from which he attained a Bachelor of Science in 1968. Following this accomplishment, he matriculated at the University of Houston's Law Center, where he graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1970. Mr. Book was subsequently admitted to practice law through the Texas and Illinois Bar Associations, the U.S. District Courts in Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, and became board certified in personal injury trial law through the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
In recognition of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Book received a diploma through the American Board of Trial Advocates and fellowships through the American College and International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Additionally, he has been consistently acknowledged as an AV-Preeminent Attorney via Martindale-Hubbell. Looking toward the future, Mr. Book aspires to happily retire, and perhaps remain affiliated with his present endeavor in an advisory capacity so that he can pass on his knowledge to younger lawyers.
